(sorry super lazy, copy + paste nalang from fb. hehe!)
papa's home after 2+ months in the hospital! what an awesome Christmas gift! It's not yet over though... It may take some time before he can walk again, it may probably take forever, but as always, I do believe that God knows what's best for him, and for us. And that I am still blessed in many ways. To the few who knew, thanks for all the prayers and support! to the rest, sorry I opted not to share too much. Just thought it's a way to keep all our BER months happy. Merry Christmas everyone!

Extraordinary Noche Buena in the making
It's been years since I had my last real noche buena -- that tradition when the family would gather together at night and eat at the strike of 12 then exchange gifts, etc etc. Since my 2 sisters got married, it's been always just the 3 of us - me, my mom and my dad.
In the past years: we'd have dinner at home on Christmas eve, around 9pm, with my sister and her family instead (since we're just neighbors). Then my sister and her family will go and spend their noche buena with my bro-in-law's family. My dad will then sleep, while mama and I will watch TV until almost 12. By 12, I'd [be forced to] slice ham and/or keso de bola (papa REALLY loves that) plus whatever's left after dinner. Then I'll set the table in a fancier way, then wake up my dad to eat. Then we'll eat together for maybe 30 minutes, then finally go to bed. Seriously, by 1am, we three are already sound asleep! Just that, nothing spectacular. And I don't really hate it, nor love it. Noche Buena's just like a mandatory midnight snack for me. I've kinda outgrown the jitters. I guess it's like that when you're the youngest!
This year, I'll be spending it with mama and papa still, but in a hospital apparently. Yesterday, my mom and I were planning how it would be since the food definitely can't be like the usual (usual Christmas foods will just make papa drool - he's still eating via NGT or tube feeding). We also have to sacrifice a bit since there's no place for us to sleep - it's either we'll go home at around 1-2am or we'll sleep on chairs until the next day, depends on the availability of my tito who drives for us - he has his own noche buena to mind too.
Most likely we'd go for anything as long as mama and I are there together for dinner or midnight snack (whenever papa's awake). We'll have sliced baguette or biscuits, cream cheese and strawberries -- because mama and I would love that, papa won't care (no ham, no keso de bola, he certainly won't care! haha). Also because that would be easier to bring - I volunteered to prepare everything so mama doesn't have to tire herself. Mama will instead make lugaw for papa just so he can say he tasted something real for noche buena (or jelly. anything smooth - it's the only texture he can swallow).
...then I can say that this may not be the best Christmas, but ironically, the most extraordinary one! And I think what makes this extraordinary is not really the food and venue. But the fact that after all the hospital drama late this year, I'm still blessed to have a father this Christmas. :)
-----
P.S. All hopes are back! He can now spell words (using the mini A-Z board I made) because he still can't talk due to the tracheostomy tube attached to him. But his brain functions really well. Repeatedly he'd spell "HOPIA" - his fave merienda which he certainly can't have for now. Whenever I visit, he'd lip-sync "SAN KA GALING". When it's time for us to leave he'd say "SAN KAYO PUPUNTA", or "SAMA AKO". He can also now sit down, with back support!
Yesterday the nurse told me, his temper was quite bad one afternoon - perhaps out of boredom or anger for he can't get that long requested hopia. He was able whisper while he closed his trach tube. He said, "uuwi na ako, ang daming pangit dito!"

CAI-STA Christmas Party Prom 2011
I was wow-ed by how CAI-STA transformed its Christmas parties. Or maybe I just had the luck this year -- this year's theme was Prom, giving everyone the excuse to dress up, and vie for something that's so high school - to be the prom king and queen! LOL. =)
I was the emcee! I volunteered to host the entire program, a bargain actually to skip the usual dance of newbies. Boy I was wrong! Being an emcee is really tedious. Plus, in the end, it didn't really cut the usual dance rehearsal stuff, because the newbie presentation was a FLASH MOB which required me (and my co-emcee) to participate at the last part, at least. errr. I wished I danced full-time instead!
Several times since that party, I bumped into someone who congratulated me (and my co-emcee) for doing "great" the whole time, for having that talent to host a program lively and spontaneously. Really? REALLY? I dunno, ugh, the hangs and impromptu announcements! I know I had a lot of booboos!!! Anyway, it was a good experience but that's probably my (first and) last, no more hosting jobs!
As for the flash mob, it was AWESOME! I'm happy to be a part of it somehow (can't be 100% proud, as I didn't participate the whole time! hehe). Among the newbie presentations I did, I can say this is the most unique, the coolest, the best! I heard from some non newbies that it was indeed surprising, pressuring, amazing all at the same time when all of a sudden 1-3 people from each table started dancing Moves Like Jagger with the same choreo! haha! (yes it was so sudden, no one was able take a video. tsk!)
The night ended with a lucky iPad winner. Of course, being ALWAYS unlucky in raffles, I went home with nothing but a Sodexo GC worth P300 ...and awesome 2nd prom memories. =) (thanks and sorry wewoy for the photos I grabbed from the server. hehe!)

Better to give than to receive!
Finally, after days of fearing separation anxiety, I decided to get rid of the biggest appliance I have - My 7-cubic ft GE refrigerator (of course with the permission of the original owner, my mom).
I really love it, but it's already 10+ years old, not worth renting a lipat-bahay truck for my transfer this January, when everything else can fit in a van. I think too that a new, smaller, no-frost refrigerator would me more practical for my lifestyle.
It's still performing well, so I first tried to sell it. None seemed to be interested, which isn't really surprising - I myself wouldn't buy an old refrigerator! So last week, I decided to give it away. Mommy (my officemate) suggested to give it as a raffle prize for the messenger, drivers and guards in the office WHO NEED ONE.
And so we did... One of the drivers, Bobby, got it! and he's really happy! And I'm very happy too, this feels much better than selling it to someone who can easily afford a new one. :)

Bone Decorating Contest
The theme is "Give Love on Christmas Day". ...so my bone-mates and I decided to use pictures of love. We gathered more or less 100 personal pictures of us with family members giving/opening gifts, with friends during outreach programs, with officemates during the previous Christmas parties/team buildings, and with our significant others of course — all printed in different sizes, hung from all over together with stars, bells and Christmas balls. I find this really awesome, nostalgic and relaxing at the same time. hypnotizing, sometimes. haha!
We call this a "bone" btw because of its shape!
Funny when I noticed that today (as in right now!), I'm actually wearing the same shirt I'm wearing in one of the pictures - during the halloween outreach program for DSWD, organized by Del. so... here's a picture of me holding the picture of me. hahaha!
(hey bev, look! I submitted a picture of us! haha!)
behind this pic is the picture of me and lou
with some bibbo kid during the halloween party.)
To my bone-mates, good job! may we win this one!
Thanks Bien for the pictures! :)

Another christmas dinner, same old faces, plus plus...
Last night, I had the traditional christmas dinner with my high school friends at Red Kimono, Westgate (better late than never!). We didn't make reservations so we had to eat on two separate long tables (what?! haha!). kudos to the guys still, as there was a dinner, something I never organized for them, ever. not because I never wanted to, but because the boys are unusually more dominant and active, for over 10 years! hahaha!
This time though, the guys organized an exchange gift, and a christmas outing in Laguna after dinner, which I had to skip coz of a family get together the following day (aww. sorry. at least I had the dinner!).
me with HS friends,
plus partners, minus those abroad.
(thanks dax for this pic!)
As in the past few christmas dinners, there had to be a color rule, to wear either green or red this time. As expected, more people came in red! cute isn't it? cute that everyone obeys (except for queza. bad! tsk! haha), and cute that it's the guys who always come up with this rule.
And as always, our number grew again this year (I think). It's been like that, we're getting old, thus getting partners! haha! We used to fit in two 6-seater cafeteria tables, every lunch. I can't imagine how many tables we need after another decade!

Merry Christmas!
I can't believe I rushed with last minute shoppers last night! It was the last thing I wanted to do actually, but I had no choice as I had work up till the last minute (Now I understand why malls are so crowded days before Dec 24! I was one of them! haha)
Anyway, I'm glad I was able to buy the gift for my HS bunutan baby (yeah I'm not done yet with christmas dinners! there's another one after christmas!). I was able to pay January bills too (which I didn't want to think about at the start of the year), and to buy myself some tops for the parties and interviews ahead. I feel like I've been using the same outfits over and over!
I was so exhausted last night, but at least I finished them all! Now it's the 24th, I'm thinking of nothing but the christmas foods I'll have today. hahaha! hrmm... actually, I still have to wrap the gifts for my family (oops! hehe). I'm such a crammer! So for bye for now and...
MERRY MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

HEAT baby, HEAT!
I had yet another hotel-dinner-buffet with my CAI-STA friends - a thing that's more than just a celebration of Christmas for me. It's the reaping of P100-per-payday paluwagan money, a the time for sharing (and receiving, yay! haha!), a reunion, and an EXCUSE TO PIGOUT. besides, this time of the year means we survived another work year, that gives us the right to splurge *the money we effortlessly saved*! :P And yes, this time we had it in Edsa Shangri-la HEAT! YUM! YUM! YUMMMM! Some pics: (these are MY food. muhaha!)
There should be 2 more photos actually - one for my DIY ensalada (eggplants, green mango, salted egg, onions, shrimp paste), and another one for my dimsums! yeah, yeah, I ate A LOT. who cares, I paid a lot for this, and it's pigout season anyway. LOL.
Now I'd like to believe what some friends told me: Heat, compared to other hotels, means quality over quantity. I loved almost everything I picked! BUT I still can't say it's the best — it didn't give the best of everything, each hotel still has its specialty.
Still on my list: Spiral for PIZZA, CHEESEs and COLD CUTS, Circles for the SUSHI, SHRIMPS and OYSTERS, and Paseo Uno for PATTEs and SALADS. Now added to my list: Heat for DIMSUMS and DESSERTS!!!

2010 paluwagan just started, now where's our next stop???

Aileen's not in this pic - late, as always :P

Jollibee, for a change. also to bid our farewell to Teddy, my mom's gift to me years ago. he just found a new friend, who also happens to be a bear. his name btw is Winnie. haha! May they enjoy their time together in that huge red box till they find their new owners :)

Ingat sa Mandurukot!
This morning I saw an actual "snatching", right before my very eyes! I was on the jeepney when the guy infront of me grabbed the bag of a student beside him (victim is a guy, about 17 yrs old). But before the snatcher could get off the jeep, WHICH WAS MOVING FAST BY THE WAY, the student was able to pull back his bag. The snatcher kept on pulling too, but the student never gave in. till finally the snatcher decided to get off and run quickly (at that point, the driver already stopped, maybe figured out what was happening!)
It turns out that the bag was the snatcher's bag! the student just pulled it because he believes that it has his stuff which the snatcher has been stealing the whole ride (hindi pala siya snatcher, mandurukot siya!). The student figured that out perhaps because the side pocket of his bag (a different bag, his real bag this time) had lots of cuts already. smart one! anyway, he scrutinized that snatcher's bag (dunno if he found any of his stuff) then threw it on the face of "guy B" beside him -and who's this guy? the snatcher's friend. yeah, I remember, guy B and the snatcher knew each other! They were talking to each other when I got in! So, as everyone was watching the entire commotion, guy B eventually got off too. I dunno if he was embarrassed or not, but either way he showed no remorse. nor fear. kapal! I wonder how many times they do it everyday?!
There, whew. I'm glad nothing really violent happened. I'm glad too I wasn't the victim, I could have freaked out. OR I would never notice the cuts on my bag till all the bad guys left. Though... on 2nd thought, if it was me, nothing bad could've happened... I learned from experience (I think! though, I believe anyone can be stupid anytime still!): When I was in college my cellphone was stolen, from that same style -I rode a jeep in buendia, then came 2 guys -one sat on my left, then the other on my right. the one on my left kept on moving towards me, but I thought it was because there are too many passengers on our row. Well, admittedly, I was a bit absent minded too that time. The next thing I knew the guys were gone, along with my cellphone. My bag had a tiny cut too -about the size of the phone's width. pro!
Since then, I've been so extra conscious of guys sitting too close (aka nanggigitgit). There was a time actually when I rode a jeepney somewhere in Susana then noticed that 3-4 guy passengers were already there. They seemed to know each other, BUT they let me sit between them. After sitting down for about 3 seconds, I stopped the jeep then transferred to a different one. I just can't trust that setup again.
So there, I just want to share that: it's christmas season once again, pickpockets are everywhere, so please be extra careful with your belongings, whether it's morning or afternoon or night, they choose no specific time during this season! Do not sit between two people if you think they know each other. Especially on jeepneys.
(and what's the relation between christmas and need for money btw? For the family's keso de bola or hamonado? Really, I don't understand why some has to do such grave thing to celebrate Jesus' birthday. HELLO!?)

collectin' stickers once again!
As what most have been sharing lately: YES the red cups are back! I stopped being a starbucks planner fan since 2007 (I mean, I stopped collecting stickers for 2008. I have the 2007, that was the last) but this time I want to give it another chance because I think I've revived my habit of manually organizing stuff. In fact I'm using an ordinary planner now which I bought from National. haha!
So, today I had my first cup, then got even more delighted by the samples. They're slimmer, and the cover's more artsy. AND there are 3 designs to choose from! awesome! The barista by the way said that these planners will again have the DISCOUNT COUPONS. WOW!
Now I feel like it's late2005 2006 again, when I wanted the 2006 2007 planner so badly! it was the LAST starbs planner which I really liked! (tama ba? 2006 yung ring bound na makapal tapos may black leather jacket???) It didn't have coupons but it had more add-on stuff inside. and a pen. Anyway, I really really like the upcoming version. must be the cover! so I'm definitely getting it!
(edit: cie confirmed that when I said "the last planner I really liked", I was actually referring to the 2007 planner. haha! thanks!)
(edit again: Anton of Our Awesome Planet posted pics here. Thanks! I needed too see ALL THOSE DETAILS! Now I'm loving the planner more!)

merry christmas!
I can't believe it's already christmas! (well, almost)
weeks ago I was pondering too much on how I'd fix stuff before I leave --do errands, settle bills, buy pasalubongs for bacolod, etc etc... now I'm left with just a few thoughts. like how I'd go to the airport tomorrow, plus the fact that I haven't packed my bags and that I'll go home late tonight coz of cie's wedding, blah blah blah... minor stuff (slash vacation dilemmas) you know, problems I'd gladly have 10 times! hehe.
I'm quite jittery as this will be my first parent-less christmas. Though I'm happy for them, I know they have so much to make up after 5 years of not seeing my sister. God's so good, He gave my parents that chance... then gave me the inventados, who can adopt me for the holidays :)
I'm also glad that work's over this year. hehe.
I have a wonderful christmas to look forward to... :)
Merry Christmas everyone! and have a safe new year! :*
