I was so giddy to find out that there's a Japanese Grocery store near my place - New Hatchin. Actually I've been seeing their sign since I moved, but I never had the chance to find out what it really was, as it closes early (7pm).
Yesterday was my chance, as I went home at 4:30 pm (whoa!) and I was happy to see that it was a grocery store, selling Japanese stuff... not just the usual cute japanese stuff, but also supermarket goods, including raw ingredients you'd need for Japanese dishes! The place isn't really big though, not like the supermarkets in Japan of course, but it reminded me of my last day in Osaka when Andie and I were shopping for our pasalubong. hehe!
Anyway, I just window shopped, as I just recently refilled my fridge. But I'll certainly go back to buy Japanese rice (they sell it in small packs, not like in Landmark), raw Udon, Nori for soups/noodles, meats (thinly sliced beef!), takoyaki, tonkatsu sauce and (if available...) some mochi and breads with fillings.
I was kinda frustrated though, as I didn't see any Macha (green tea) powder. I've been planning to make green tea ice cream for a veeery long time now, I just can't do it coz I lack this very important ingredient! oh well. Orrr maybe I wasn't persistent enough. Perhaps I should ask on my next visit.
I can't wait! :)

naalala ko tuloy yung time na gumawa kami ng takoyaki. malayo yung lasa kesa dun sa nabibili sa mga stalls dito kasi genuine ingredients ginamit namin (fresh from japan!) hehehe..
