We normally spend father's day just at home - mama would either cook something special, or have something delivered, if she's feeling so lazy. This time though, we decided to spend it outside metro manila, as mama also wanted to see the new ACTex - a highway connecting the old SLEX to Star Tollway, making Lipa City reachable by JUST 1 hour from Alabang!
ACTex (Alabang-Calamba-Sto Tomas expressway)
As suggested by my officemate Glenn, we went to Bluroze Farms and Wildlife, Lipa City, Batangas. It's a mish mash of awesomeness - it's a farm, resort, events place, teambuilding venue, retreat destination, and zoo ALL IN ONE! haha!
ostriches
the human maze, I really love this!
We "youngsters" enjoyed the animals and the playground, especially the maze! It was really fun! As for mama, she was amazed with how fast our travel was (really, celebrating father's day was just her secondary agenda! haha) and with Bluroze's cheap rates - We paid just P175/head for the entrance fee, which includes lunch!
I'm not really sure what papa liked, but he said he wants to go back when it's no longer muddy (it was rainy!). He'd also like to stay overnight next time. I guess papa's always after the comfort, and not the activities. hehe. I'm pretty sure though he enjoyed his liempo meal! (yes, bad for his health! but we allowed him to order something fatty just this once, it's father's day anyway!)
Food was so-so. I ordered liempo too, Mama ordered tilapia, Lou and the kids ordered burger steak. They weren't bad but not extraordinary either. But I loved their bottomless chicken soup with some malunggay, hot chocolate (tablea. mmm!) and their cheap desserts - buko salad, leche flan and mais con hielo - they were all below 100, and could be shared by two! I'm kinda frustrated though coz they don't have Bulalo (a Batangas trip - on a rainy day - isn't complete without Bulalo!!!)
This place is good for big groups or team building events. Or for communities wanting a different venue for their retreat/recollection -- they have a chapel and a garden for the stations of the cross! They also have a swimming pool, but it's exclusive only to the occupants of the private villa, which is intended for 20 people ...I'm wondering what the regular rooms have to offer. I guess they're good if you just want to pigout, drink and relax.
Everything else can be enjoyed in just one afternoon, so all in all it's a good day trip destination, for both adults and kids. Good enough for our Father's day! :)
