On moving out, disposing, disposing and DISPOSING

I'm moving out!!!

It's a long long long story, summary is, my parents are shifting to a more practical retirement lifestyle, which got me thinking: I am 26 now, the only one left single, acting as the only child since high school. I'm too old to be fed and pampered under their roof, I'm earning enough and too prepared to still get a part of their daily budget. it's time to move on and live on my own. A lot may not understand, or it may sound absurd (in our pinoy culture, where there's close family ties ek ek), but I don't care, it's a lifestyle I've been dreaming of for a long long long time. Now’s the time, I’ve got no more excuse to delay. plus I've got the full support of my parents and sisters!

So... I need a place (a condo or apartment for rent for a start), AND a new job, probably, if I get a new home outside of South -which will most like happen because I don't really see myself settling here in Alabang. A lot suggested to get a job first, so I'd know where to settle, also coz it's really risky to move out with no stable income. That's right, but I'm thinking, getting a place first could be that leverage I've been waiting for to move on with all the work drama. LOL, it's a chicken and egg problem!

Anyway, forget it. what I really want to do for the next few days is to DISPOSE. This is my first priority. Years ago, my family experienced moving from a big house to a small house, without disposing much, so I know how important this task is, how chaotic when overlooked, believe me. haha! So, this time I want to do it as early as possible.

I'm glad that I've used this long weekend to dispose:
- 5 tote bags
- small stuff like old pouches, keychains, eyeglasses, etc., and
- A LOT of small figurines

or things I never used/appreciated for the past 3 years at least. If you've given me one before (like HS or college days), sorry but I really have to dispose them. LOL. when I say dispose though, it meant "donate to helper" and "put to trash" -latter means someone will always get them, someone will either sell them or reuse them. even if these stuff reach the dump sites.

All in all, I disposed 2 huge trash bags this weekend, but that doesn't sound good actually. I still have:
- 10 pairs of seldom-used shoes, more or less
- old clothes, which I love but are already too small for me (haha!)
- old kiddie and teeny books I used to love
- a really old computer monitor
- a really old HP printer AND
- the biggest of them all, an old school computer desk

I can't just throw them away, thinking I could either donate or sell them. or let some friends arbor the really good ones. But for now I have no concrete idea. haha! any suggestions?

* edit - this explains why I gave up my sticker card :)

Leds! Uulitin ko yng suggestion ko. Don't move into a condo/apartment before you get a job! :P

Ganyan din kasi nangyari sakin a few months ago.

You can get a job in any city, any state, so if you get a job in one city, it's most practical to stay near that area, and with the economy, you really can't predict where you'll get a job. Pero sa Pilipinas, more or less IT work is only concentrated in a few places, and I don't think the economy was as hard hit as it was here, so if you get a place now, less yung chance na you'll have to move across the region or the country or what.

So yun. Especially since nagccommute ka. :P

@mela: actualy, i'm not thinking about it yet because I have a lot to dispose (A LOT TALAGA) because regardless kung maghanap muna ng job or not, i know i'm moving out anyway. hehe.

and like what you said, IT jobs here are concentrated in a few places... here, you could be picky with the location first then find the job there.

don't worry, job hunting will most likely be my next assignment. or it will be of equal priority as house hunting. perfect kung sabay ko makuha noh? hay, they're all too blurry now!

anyway, thanks for the advice mel, I really appreciate it. so true, i know looking for a job FIRST is the most practical option... we'll see. I hope I sort things out before the year ends! hehe!

follow up pala: I could always stay with my parents still. and that option will be much better than staying with "relatives" or with anyone else. I just can't wait to move out! hehe! good luck to me!

Which reminds me, nakitira na din ako with a friend and a family friend a few months ago. Grabe! Come to think of it, this is the 4th house I'm staying at since I graduated. Homeless kung homeless. Haha. There was no way I could pay rent w/ no income :/ Good luck nalang satin.

Nagaayos na ko for my trip back. Mamimigay din ako ng gamit! Pero at least it's just stuff I accumulated over 1 year kaya for now 1 trash bag lang.

As for your stuff, why don't you donate it somewhere? Like an orphanage or a Church (since usually may outreach arm sila)? Or may nangongolekta pa ba ng gamit for Ondoy & typhoon victims? Yung ibang gamit, puede mo rin ibenta (mag garage sale ka or what) tapos yung mga earnings mo puede mong i-save (o puede mo rin idonate).

buti sayo 1 year, sakin 26 years!!! hahahahaha! onga e... definitely I'll donate them but I don't know yet san kung san sang org/church ko papamigay, hirap kase wala ako car :(

nyway so far I've planned to give kiddie/teeny books, giveaways, stuffed toys, and collectibles TO JOLLIBEE (yung maAGAng pamaskong program).

all papers will go to the junk shop, they'll buy it for P5 PER KILO!!!!. I wonder how much I'll get from my trash. LOL. hahaha!

big stuff nalang talaga :( hehe. but at least! i've done so much this weekend!

wow congrats!!! big big step yan :) I always wanted to try moving out, kaso ang nangyari sa setup namen e ako lang naman naiwan sa house namen dito sa QC, so technically parang "I moved out" na rin? :P I pay the bills etc etc as well.. ;D Mahirap sya, pero masaya. Plus, as long as you know na you have the support of your parents, carry na yan! ;D

Good luck and God bless! :)
