revisited lifestyle

yesterday I tried the Gold's Gym's Basic class for the first time. "Basic" -not an adjective, but "Basic" as in B-A-S-I-C.

prior to that I asked the girl at the towel counter what Basic's all about. simply, she said, it's the basic of everything --pilates, yoga, aerobics and street dancing. hmmm okay. since the whole day UAT assistance was sooo tiring, I decided to try this one thinking that it won't stretch my body to the limits.

but wowhoaa it soaked me wet! it was actually step aerobics, taebo, pilates, weight lifting and yoga --in that order. I wonder why it is categorized as L1 (low to medium intensity with easy to follow choreography) while street dancing is ML (multi-levels) ...when the former can make me sweat twice as much!!!? really, you shouldn't underestimate the word BASIC. or other words synonymous to that. hehe

anyways, this morning I felt *a little* of the muscles I used to have. or that "abs" and arm muscles I used to see under yellow light right after a good workout (gym buffs you should know what I'm talking about!), just means that this Basic thing is really something! from now on it will be under my must-attend class list!

really sounds good! this should be a good compensation for the 1 year baboyness! :)

bye sarah

I can name more than 5 ppl I know who passed away since December last year. one is my lola's sister, who I considered as my own lola for a long time. another is my uncle coz of the LPG incident. yes, he died ...and I failed to update you guys about it. it was too tragic :( then the mother of this, the father of that, the sister of this, son of that, then... Sarah.

death haunts me lately, when ironically, losing someone is one of my biggest fears. but sadly it happens, coincidentally so often now within my circle. times like this make me recall what brother Bobby (Quitain) said once in SOLV's annual retreat last year --that life on earth is nothing compared to eternity. nothing. just a particle in space. we may cry, grieve, hate life for the loss. but our turn isn't that far. sooner or later we will all die.

I hope I remember this when it's my turn to lose someone...

yesterday was my last chance to see Sarah. At first I decided not to go, it seemed so painful just to see a close friend lose his girlfriend. but I guess he needed friends. and so I went, then bid my farewell.

Oh Sars, may you rest in peace, and don't forget to say hi to Jesus for me :) and in case you meet candice up there, tell her I miss her :)

hello again, gym!

I renewed my membership in Gold's Gym after a one year lapse --yeah I'm back to gym-ing again! I miss being health conscious, I miss the shape I used to have (not that I'm saying it's "wow" nice back then, but I can say that was sooo much better than what I have now!!!), I miss sweating a lot!!!

last monday when I entered Gold's Gym alabang, everything flashed back --the machines, the energy of the people, even the mood I used to have while working out. things before were really different, I was more optimistic, enthusiastic and motivated in life generally. see, having a regular excercise makes a lot of difference!

there were some things that changed though. good things :) like there are now more class exercises, conveniently scheduled for ppl like me who go out of work at around 6-6:15 pm. then there's now a sign near the weights area that says "Do not drop the dumbbells, it annoys everybody" hahahaha!

now there's also a shortcut from my office to the gym, as the driveway from madrigal to the gym's already done. It shortens my long walk by 50% -I prefer the warm up IN THE GYM, not in the long walk going there. and my rate changed too! from 33k per 14 months, it's now 31k. not bad (at least for me!)

I can't wait to checkout makati branch this saturday. I miss that branch too as much, that's part of my early yuppy life! I know it'll still be crowded compared to Alabang (and I know I'd say N times still that the locker room in Alabang's soooo much better) but for sure there'll be little things that will delight me.

I hope all goes well --BEFORE I START WITH MY SUMMER AGENDAS :>

oh biz biz biz

I have spent 4 digits already for my "capital" of my new business, made a lot of sample invites and souvenirs, yet came up with only 4 samples for wedding invitations, and 3 samples for kiddie souvenirs. and among those 7, there's just 1 which I really like (not even SUPER like or 100% like, but just about 50% like). gee, seriously I'm suffering from OCD!

i like just these choco boxes :-|

they're in a multiply site right now but I'm soo not impressed with my own work so I won't publicize that multiply accnt yet. besides my personal deadline is on mid march. dry run palang to ikanga. hehe.

though I've shared the site to a few friends last weekend. accdg to a guy friend, if he's to marry, he won't purchase the invites coz they look like wallpapers. OUCH! but gosh, I really appreciate that comment! makes me want to make a better one!

given that, and the fact that I need to put in more variety, looks like there's a lot more work waiting for me this weekend! but with more motivation, as I think of these FACTS: 1) sometimes coming up with a marketable product is a tedious process of trial and error 2) in putting up a business, all your money goes out. and out. and out. nothing comes in at the start. that's why it's called a risk!

the new perspective: after consulting some of my friends, I realized that before designing something, I must always start with the question "will I purchase this if I'm the one who's getting married?" or "If I'm a kid, would I love this souvenir?". I guess that's a very important key, before you sell something... find out if you want the product for yourself!

this is becoming DRAINING

...but in a fun way :)

and more contact-bloopers to go

It's now the 4th day of my contact lens, and I still haven't perfected the "art". my right eye's just not cooperating. it's always dry... one morning it took me 5 minutes to wear the lens -5 seconds for the left, 4 minutes++ for the right (when I can now actually do this over and over, promise!), then READ THIS... yesterday that same right lens just fell off by itself while I was on the trike, while I was against the morning's cold wind. hahaha! good thing I felt it happen, and my vision's good enough still so I found it (painstakingly) near my shoes. argh. must now use lubricants, I know!

ok, that's the last of my lens tale (to be reported on blog), soon I'll get used to this! arrgh.

bye bye eyeglasses!

yesterday I entered a new chapter in my life.

I finally decided to... use contact lens :> haha! (big deal!)

It's so funny that it took me 30 minutes, IN THE OPTICAL SHOP OKAY, to learn how to put it on and the worst part of all, how to remove it. it's my first time okay, and I am a squeamish when it comes to eyeballs!

yes I am, and I think years ago I said I'd probably wear glasses for the rest of my life. but ironically I decided to shift, for the simple/superficial reason that I no longer want to remove my eyeglasses each time I face a camera.

plus, I'm a bit OC when it comes to eyeshadows. I love eyeshadows! wearing eyeglasses with it just don't seem right (for me at least. hehe)

enough of kaartehan.

anyway, I'm glad I had my eyes checked again (everytime I visit the optical shop, I have my eyes checked na rin). If I hadn't I wouldn't know that my right eye's vision increased to 150 and the left one to 100. This makes the contact lens more complicated, coz from now on, strictly, right is to right and left is to left. haha!

After the girl in the shop PATIENTLY taught me to wear it, we went the grocery to buy some stuff. I was so giddy coz the grocery section labels from afar are now clearer than I could remember.

See, you won’t realize you have vision probs unless you have your eyes checked. so visit your ophthalmologist once a year! (or is it optometrist? basta yun. hehe)
